Roblox introduces limited content for creators to make and sell limited avatar gear
Gaming platform Roblox has announced “Limiteds” to its user-generated content (UGC) program to allow creators to sell digital items that are only available in limited quantities.
Limiteds allows creators to set the number of their creations, allowing them to control their scarcity. Limited products can also be resold, according to a post on the developer forums.
In addition to what creators currently earn from creation and sales, the company said creators will also benefit from a 10 percent initial creator fee each time a product is resold.
Additionally, the company said that in order to promote a healthy marketplace where creators create high-quality products and are judicious about the amount they publish, an upfront payment must be made before a limited amount is published.
“When the item is sold, the creator gets this advance payment back in proportion to the number of items sold. This additional fee comes from Roblox’s 30 percent platform share.”
Meanwhile, Roblox has announced that it plans to launch tests for two of its new AI tools in the coming weeks – text prompt generative AI material and generative AI code completion – to help increase “speed of development”.
“These off-the-shelf AI systems are not integrated into our platform and often do not produce ‘Roblox-ready’ output that requires significant follow-up work by the author,” Daniel Sturman, Roblox’s CTO, said in a blog post. .
